The New Year in Washington gets off to a bang this week when the Republicans take control of both houses of Congress for the first time since 2006. The House gets 43 GOP freshman and 15 Democratic freshman. The Senate gets 13 new lawmakers.. all Republican but one. The priorities for the GOP are reportedly passing the Keystone pipeline, new sanctions on Iran, jobs, and chipping away at Obamacare. The White House may fight them on Keystone and definitely will on Obamacare. Mike Emanuel reports.

Jury selection begins today in the terror and murder trial of Boston bombing suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev. He and his dead brother Tamerlan allegedly planned the terror attack that killed three people and hurt more than 260 at the 2013 Boston Marathon. He faces the death penalty. Molly Line reporting live from Boston, and we'll talk to our legal panel about the case.
We're also going to take a look at a fascinating case of a women who allegedly pretended to be a lawyer. She apparently negotiated at least one plea deal.. before she was discovered. So can that plea deal still be enforced?
There's a preliminary hearing today in Eric Frein case.. He's accused of ambushing two state troopers in Pennsylvania.. killing one and injuring another. Prosecutors will seek the death penalty.

Real Housewives "star" Teresa Gidudice reports to prison today for bankruptcy fraud for 15 months. Her husband has a 41 month sentence which will begin when Teresa gets out.
The search for bodies and wreckage in the AirAsia Flight 8501 disaster continues.. despite bad weather and high seas.. 162 people are presumed dead in the crash. 37 bodies have been recovered, and a bunch of wreckage has been found on the ocean floor which may include the black boxes in the plane's tail section. Indonesia is now cracking down on the aviation sector after it came to light the plane was flying an unapproved route. David Piper reporting.
Lebanon is trying to stop the flood of Syrian refugees fleeing the disastrous civil war there that has left more than 200,000 dead. 1.5 million Syrians are living in Syria.. about a quarter of the total population.
