Los Angeles police say a man fired a rifle at two officers in a patrol car, but no one was injured in the attack.

LAPD spokeswoman Officer Nuria Venegas said Monday morning that the man has been arrested and police are searching the area in South Los Angeles for a second suspect.

She says two officers were responding to radio call around 9:30 p.m. Sunday night when they saw the muzzle flash of a rifle pointed in their direction. The officers returned fire, but no one was hit.

The officers arrested one suspect and recovered a rifle.

Police were combing the neighborhood looking for the second suspect, warning nearby residents to stay inside their home and declaring a tactical alert to make more officers available for the search.
