An ex-convict has been charged in the killing of a 15-year-old girl whose badly burned body was found in an Indianapolis backyard in August.
Authorities charged William Gholston with murder on Thursday in Dominique Allen's death.
Marion County Prosecutor Terry Curry said Friday that DNA found on Allen's sandals and body matched samples from the 46-year-old Gholston in the state inmate database. She says authorities don't know of any connection between Allen and Gholston, who lived near where the girl's body was found August 31.
Curry says Gholston was released from prison in May after serving a sentence for armed robbery and drug convictions.
An autopsy determined that Allen, a Ben Davis High School freshman, died from asphyxiation. Police say Allen was dead before her body was burned.
