A humane society says a man has been arrested in connection with 25 dead cats that were found in plastic bags hanging from trees.

The SPCA of Westchester said Tuesday that Rene Carcamo of Yonkers has been charged with illegally disposing of the dead cats.

He is not charged with killing the cats.

The group's director of enforcement, Ernest Lungaro, says the disposal crime is what investigators feel they are "able to prove."

The dead cats were found in April. Tests on three bodies showed they had been killed with blows to the head.

Lungaro said he had no information on a defense lawyer for Carcamo.
