The trial of a Detroit police officer who killed a girl during a raid is resuming, likely with more testimony from the victim's grandmother.
Jurors were sent home last Wednesday after Mertilla Jones yelled and sobbed as she described the shooting of 7-year-old Aiyana Stanley-Jones. Jones looked at Officer Joseph Weekley in court and said, "You killed my grandbaby."
Weekley is charged with involuntary manslaughter. His first trial last year ended without a verdict.
Weekley insists he accidentally pulled the trigger when Jones grabbed his gun, but she denies any interference. Police were raiding the home in 2010 to look for a murder suspect.
The trial began Sept. 18.
