Police say an officer subdued a 15-year-old Ohio high school student who came to school armed with a loaded semi-automatic pistol.

No shots were fired during the struggle at Kenmore High School in Akron on Monday, but the officer suffered an arm injury. The school was locked down for about an hour.

The Akron Beacon Journal (http://bit.ly/1DvHp2w ) reports the student had been serving an in-school suspension for smoking and was disciplined again Monday morning.

Akron schools spokesman Mark Williamson says the student left the building and when he returned, the assistant principal and an officer tried to take him into custody.

During the struggle, the officer could feel a gun inside the student's clothing. The officer eventually restrained the boy and secured the loaded .45-caliber pistol.

The teen faces multiple charges.
