LAS VEGAS – A deputy public defender in Las Vegas raised a question about the mental state of a woman facing multiple felony charges in a deadly crime spree that included a carjacking, two home invasions and a stabbing before police shot dead her alleged accomplice.
Natasha Galenn Jackson's court-appointed lawyer, Danny Silverstein, said outside court that the 35-year-old Jackson has been treated in the past for unspecified mental illness and doesn't remember a previous court appearance following her July 28 arrest in Las Vegas.
Jackson pleaded not guilty Monday to murder, robbery, kidnapping, burglary and weapon charges that could get her life in prison if she's convicted.
A state court judge set Jackson's trial date March 9.
Silverstein says it's too early to say how Jackson's mental state may affect her defense.
