Prosecutors have filed a prostitution charge against a man tasked with overseeing a polygamous trust in Warren Jeffs' sect on the Utah-Arizona border.

The Salt Lake Tribune reports (http://bit.ly/1mqbV2P) accountant Bruce Wisan pleaded not guilty Thursday to one charge of patronizing a prostitute in the city of Taylorsville.

Wisan's attorney Catherine Cleveland declined to comment Thursday.

Wisan originally was called to testify in a misdemeanor case against a suspected prostitute after he was found in the woman's motel room in March 2013. The 68-year-old Wisan told police he was helping the woman financially and that no sexual activity occurred.

The woman first told police no sex occurred, but later said it did.

A state court judge appointed Wisan to manage the trust in 2005.
