Former District of Columbia mayor Marion Barry has paid his outstanding traffic tickets after accumulating more than $2,800 in fines over the past two and a half years.
The website of the District's Department of Motor Vehicles showed that Barry's 2002 Jaguar had a balance of $0 on Tuesday afternoon.
The 78-year-old Barry is a D.C. councilmember, a position that comes with some parking privileges. He was involved in a minor traffic accident on Saturday and was cited for lack of registration and proof of insurance. A spokeswoman for Barry said he suffered a hypoglycemic attack before the crash.
Barry's recent traffic tickets included five citations for speeding and one for running a red light.
