Two 12-year-old Wisconsin girls accused of stabbing and nearly killing a classmate to curry favor with a fictional online character are due back in court Wednesday.
Attorneys are expected to discuss the results of a mental health evaluation done on one of the girls. Defense attorney Anthony Cotton has said he believes his client is mentally ill, and a court commissioner previously agreed to have a state doctor examine her.
Cotton says he also has hired a second doctor to do an evaluation.
A motion for prosecutors to turn over evidence to the other girl's public defender also is on the agenda.
Court documents say the girls plotted for months to kill their friend to please the specter known as Slender Man. The 12-year-old victim has been recovering at home.
