Flag from WTC ruins missing from home of firefighter's family

HUNTINGTON STATION, N.Y. – The family of a firefighter killed on 9/11 is hoping for the return of an American flag that disappeared from their yard on Long Island.

Melissa Brengel of Huntington Station tells NBC New York that the September 11th Families Association gave her the flag after it flew over the World Trade Center ruins.

The family believes it was taken late Monday or early Tuesday.

Brengel's brother, Jonathan Ielpi, was 29 when he died at the trade center.
