Police say the body of a Hamden school administrator has been found at Short Beach hours after state police had issued a Silver Alert that she was missing.

Forty-year-old Amy Golda, fine arts director for the Hamden Public Schools, was found early Friday afternoon. Police said they don't believe foul play was involved but the state medical examiner will conduct an autopsy to determine how she died.

Interim School Superintendent Chris Melillo tells WVIT-TV "we are all saddened by the death of Golda who was "a valued member of our community."

Beachgoers said there were people on the beach when the body was seen in the water and lifeguards recovered it.

Michelle Boyce, of Beacon Falls, who was there with her family, told reporters at the scene that the clothed body was floating about 30 feet off the beach.
