A 78-year-old Ohio man has gotten his high school degree more than 60 years after he left school to work.

Bill Holloway of Mansfield in northern Ohio received his high school equivalency diploma at a ceremony Thursday with 217 other students.

Holloway left high school without graduating in 1953 so he could work.

He worked at an electric company for seven years, a photo shop for 20 years, and then at a post office for another 20.

Holloway tells the News Journal he's grateful he always had a job, but that one thing was missing: his diploma.

At the graduation ceremony, Holloway told the young people in the crowd to stay in school. He told older folks who may not have their degrees that it's never too late.
