WARREN, Mich. – Police say a Detroit-area man won't face charges after he failed to immediately tell authorities that his girlfriend had died during a drive to Michigan from Arizona.
Warren police Deputy Commissioner Louis Galasso tells the Detroit Free Press and The Detroit News the case involved some "bizarre" judgment and behavior, but wasn't criminal.
Ray Tomlinson says he kept driving after his 31-year-old girlfriend died. He says he had his 92-year-old mother in the van and wanted to get her home. The 62-year-old Clinton Township man says he also feared arrest and wanted to get the body to a Michigan morgue.
Officers arrived Tuesday at his son's home in Warren to find the corpse in the front passenger seat wearing a seatbelt and sunglasses.
The dead woman's name hasn't been released.
