SAN DIEGO – The Navy has decided to give a letter of reprimand to a former Blue Angels commander accused of allowing sexual harassment in the workplace during his time as leader of the famed precision flying team.
The Navy on Tuesday announced the action against Capt. Gregory McWherter. He could not be reached for comment.
The Navy in April relieved McWherter from his duty as executive officer of Naval Base Coronado in California amid allegations that he tolerated inappropriate comments and pornographic images in the workplace of the Blue Angels during his two stints as its leader between 2008 and 2012.
The ruling came from a nonjudicial proceeding convened Monday in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii.
The letter that will go in McWherter's file is widely considered to be a career-ender in the service.
