A motorcycle built by inmates at a Vermont prison is going to be raffled off to support homeless veterans.

The Department of Corrections' motorcycle program is a partnership with Green Mountain Harley Davidson in Essex Junction.

The motorcycle was built by inmates attending the Community High School of Vermont at the Northwest State Correctional Facility in Swanton.

It is being donated Thursday to the Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association, which plans to raffle it off and donate the proceeds to the Vermont Veterans Place in Northfield, a support shelter for homeless vets.

Corrections Commissioner Andy Pallito says the motorcycle program has helped students master skills necessary to be productive citizens and it provides job training to support their transition back to the community.
