A security guard critically wounded when a gunman went on a rampage at a FedEx facility asked a dispatcher to tell his wife that he loved her.

Christopher Sparkman called an emergency dispatcher seeking help after 19-year-old Geddy Kramer shot him at close range with a shotgun on April 29. The guard survived. Police say the gunman killed himself after wounding six people.

Sparkman asked an emergency dispatcher tell his wife that he loved her. He said that he did not want to die, and he asked that help be sent quickly. Concerned colleagues came to Sparkman's aide while managers ordered an evacuation.

The recordings were released Tuesday under Georgia's open records law.

The wounded security guard told the dispatcher that he did not recognize the gunman.
