One person has died and three others have been injured in a fire at a plant that makes explosives in McEwen.

A dispatcher with Humphreys County said firefighters from two counties were working on the blaze at the Accurate Energetic Systems on Wednesday afternoon. A spokesman from Vanderbilt University Medical Center said the hospital received four patients from the explosion, including one who died. All suffered blast injuries.

The dispatcher said the plant is located on the border between Hickman and Humphreys counties. She said firefighters reported that the blaze at the plant was extinguished but they were putting out a brush fire that resulted from the fire at AES.

The cause of the fire hasn't been determined.

AES makes explosives for the military and commercial companies.
