Boston authorities destroy pressure cooker near school

A bomb squad destroyed an unattended pressure cooker Tuesday morning near an East Boston elementary school, WBZ-TV reported.

Officials at O’Donnell Elementary School told the station that none of the students were in danger. Police reportedly set up a disruption device and blew up the pressure cooker, which was empty. It was not immediately clear who placed the device near the school.

Similar pressure cookers were used last year at the attack on the Boston Marathon.

"People are sensitive to this," Capt. Kelley McCormick, from the Boston Police Department, told the station.
