The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation says it is taking over the investigation into the death of a man outside a movie theater.

The state agency says in a statement that it will look into the death of 44-year-old Luis Rodriguez at the request of Cleveland County District Attorney Greg Mashburn.

Rodriguez died following an altercation with police early Saturday morning in a parking lot outside a theater in Moore. Moore police have said Rodriguez became uncooperative when questioned about a possible domestic disturbance and that he was handcuffed and placed on the ground.

Rodriguez's wife and daughter say police then started beating him. At some point, Rodriguez died. Autopsy results are pending.

Three officers have been placed on administrative leave following the incident. Their names have not been released.
