Nanette Lepore showed her fall 2014 collection at Lincoln Center for New York Fashion Week earlier this month.
She calls New York City's garment center "vital" to her business, and told me backstage the collection was "artisanal," and all about hand-crafting.
It was heavy on the colors of red wine and black. Lepore has said her clothes are a tribute to the city and state that has nurtured her. She started her business 20 years ago.
And the city has been loving Lepore back.
At the recent inauguration of new mayor Bill de Blasio, his wife and daughter, Chirlane McCray and Chiara de Blasio wore Nanette Lepore.
Celebs at her show included actresses Sarita Choudhury, Audrey Gelman, Peyton List, and Kelly Rutherford and singer Condola Rashad. There was also a contingent of "The Sopranos," actors. Edie Falco, Johnny Ventimiglia and Aida Turtorro were backstage and front row.
