HARRISBURG, Pa. – A Pennsylvania prosecutor says police haven't substantiated a woman's claims she killed more than 20 people before the killing for which she's now charged.
Northumberland County District Attorney Tony Rosini said Tuesday ethical rules bar him from commenting on statements made by Selinsgrove resident Miranda Barbour, who with her newlywed husband is accused of the November slaying of a man lured through a Craigslist ad for companionship.
But Rosini says there's been "no verification" of information regarding Barbour's prior acts.
Barbour said in a recent prison interview she killed at least 22 people in Alaska, Texas, North Carolina and California as part of her involvement in a satanic cult.
She and her husband have pleaded not guilty. Their lawyers are seeking psychiatric evaluations for them.
