SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. – San Bernardino County prosecutors say dozens of law enforcement officers were justified in using deadly force in a shootout that ended in the suicide of cop-turned-killer Christopher Dorner last year inside a burning mountain cabin.
The district attorney's office on Tuesday released its report on the confrontation that took place on Feb. 12, 2013. The report says the 37 officers were responding to an immediate threat of death and serious injury to themselves and the public.
Dorner went on a 10-day revenge rampage over his firing by the Los Angeles Police Department. He killed four people, including a San Bernardino County sheriff's deputy who was shot during the standoff. Another deputy was wounded.
The DA's report notes that Dorner died by his own hand after refusing to surrender.
