The second day of a bond hearing will be held for a retired Tampa police captain accused of shooting another man in a movie theater after an argument over texting.
Curtis Reeves is charged with second-degree murder in the killing of 43-year-old Chad Oulson. Reeves has pleaded not guilty. The hearing to determine whether a Pasco County judge will grant Reeves bail will be held Friday morning.
Authorities say Reeves became upset when Oulson was texting during the movie previews. The two men got into a verbal argument and witnesses told officers Oulson threw popcorn at Reeves.
The 71-year-old Reeves has been in jail since the Jan. 13 shooting. If convicted, he could face a mandatory minimum sentence of 25 years in prison.
