Police have arrested a man at Ferris State University in the shooting of a student at an off-campus apartment complex near the western Michigan school.
The university is in Big Rapids, about 50 miles north of Grand Rapids. Officials canceled classes, basketball games and other sporting events after the shooting, which occurred at 4:15 a.m. Saturday at the Venlo Place apartments.
Ferris State spokeswoman Sandy Gholston said Sunday that police arrested the man late Saturday at Finch Court apartments on campus. She isn't identifying him or saying if he's a student. She says charges are expected by Tuesday.
Gholston says police also are questioning a woman.
The victim was transferred to a Grand Rapids hospital. His wounds aren't believed to be life-threatening. His name wasn't released.
