Police arrest man after finding hundreds of snakes in California home

Police say a man has been arrested after at least 200 snakes were found in his Southern California home.

Santa Ana police Cmdr. Bill Nimmo (NIH-moh) says officers found between 200 and 300 snakes after searching the house early Tuesday on a tip from neighbors.

Police Cpl. Anthony Bertagna tells KNX radio that neighbors complained about a stench coming from the house.

He says some of the snakes are alive — either in boxes or crawling around — and some are dead

Nimmo says the resident was arrested for investigation of animal cruelty.
