The Florida attorney who successfully defended George Zimmerman after he fatally shot an unarmed teen has been hired to represent a fireman accused by several women of rape.

A spokesman for Mark O'Mara confirmed Wednesday that the attorney is representing Terry Freeman II.

The Deltona firefighter faces several charges of sexual battery. That is what Florida uses to stand for rape charges. The Dayton Beach News-Journal (http://goo.gl/RkHUzS ) reports that Freeman was first arrested on Dec. 31 and was being held without bail.

Zimmerman was acquitted last year of second-degree murder and manslaughter for the February 2012 shooting of Trayvon Martin in Sanford. O'Mara argued that the former neighborhood watch captain acted in self-defense, and a jury found Zimmerman not guilty.
