A California woman says she is trying to remain strong after her two sons were shot and killed just weeks apart.

Dinyal New of Oakland told reporters on Monday that she did not have the courage to identify their bodies and asked relatives to do so for her.

The 41-year-old New left flowers at the site where her 19-year-old son, Lamar Broussard, and his friend, Derryck Harris, were shot and killed on Sunday.

New's other son, 13-year-old Lee Weathersby III, was shot about a mile away on New Year's Eve. He died the next day.

Police have not made any arrests. Investigators have not ruled out the possibility that Sunday's slayings are linked to the younger brother's death, the Oakland Tribune reported (http://bit.ly/1bFpWYQ).
