Police have a person in custody following a reported shooting at Purdue University in Indiana.

Purdue spokesman Greg McClure tells The Associated Press that police haven't released information about possible injuries. The report of shots fired came in around noon on Tuesday at the electrical engineering building on the school's campus in West Lafayette.

McClure says police have a person in custody but no details are available.

The engineering building remains on lockdown, but the rest of the 40,000-student campus has been opened. The university had issued a campus-wide text alert advising students and faculty to take shelter.

Television footage shows several law enforcement vehicles around the building, which is across from where President Mitch Daniels' office is housed.
