Pa. judge rules against Penn State ex-officials over testimony by former university lawyer

A Pennsylvania judge is ruling against former Penn State administrators who want to keep the university's former general counsel off the stand as they face charges of a criminal cover-up of complaints about Jerry Sandusky.

The ruling Friday by Dauphin County Judge Todd Hoover says that the attempts to prevent testimony by Cynthia Baldwin are premature but might be raised again later.

The defendants are retired athletic director Tim Curley, retired vice president Gary Schultz and Graham Spanier, a faculty member who was forced out as university president following Sandusky's arrest on child sex abuse charges in 2011.

Hoover also ordered lawyers for the defendants to file documents that include discussion of legal issues related to their efforts to have charges thrown out over alleged violations of lawyer-client privilege.
