An elderly Detroit man returns to court to face a murder charge in the slaying of a woman whose remains were found in his bathtub.

Alphonso Jackson's jury trial is scheduled to start Monday morning in Wayne County Circuit Court.

Jackson is also charged with concealing the death of an individual and tampering with evidence. He was arrested May 3, 2013, after police followed a trail of blood from a sidewalk to his eastside apartment where the unidentified remains were found.

Remains also were found near a burned-out house.

Jackson uses a wheelchair. Police arrested him in his kitchen after following the blood trail to his apartment. He was 72 at the time of his arrest.
