Police in Connecticut say a 20-year-old man severely abused and killed seven cats belonging to his fiancee's family, which has been rescuing cats for more than a decade.

Timothy Olschafskie (ol-SHAF'-skee) was arraigned on animal cruelty charges Thursday in Enfield Superior Court. Court records say the cats were thrown around the house and suffered blunt force trauma, bone fractures, lacerations to internal organs and skin torn from their bodies.

Authorities say Olschafskie lived with his fiancee and her family in Windsor Locks when the pets died. Court records say Olschafskie told police he didn't know how the cats were injured but admitted to his fiancee's mother that he killed five of them.

Olschafskie has been ordered held on $150,000 bail. Neither he nor his lawyer have commented publicly on the allegations.
