Southern California man is accused of killing his Chihuahua by deliberately hitting it with his car in an attack caught on surveillance video.

The Torrance Daily Breeze says a resident found the dead animal Thursday.

Police investigated and found the video from Dec. 28 that shows a man in an alley removing something from his trunk of a car -- possibly the dog. The Chihuahua then runs in front of the car, and the car runs it over before driving off. The dog is left convulsing and bloody.

Hawthorne police Lt. Scott Swain says investigators traced the car and arrested Michael Parker on Friday on suspicion of willful animal cruelty.

The Hawthorne resident was later released and couldn't be reached for comment.

Police haven't released a motive for the killing.
