Police in California are searching for the car of a priest found dead in a church rectory.
Eureka Police Chief Andrew Mills said Thursday that detectives have launched a murder investigation and are looking for the Altima Hybrid of the Rev. Eric Freed, who also taught religious studies at Humboldt State University.
Eureka Mayor Frank Jager says Freed's body was found Wednesday in the St. Bernard Church rectory after he failed to show up for morning Mass.
Mills said Freed was the victim of a violent crime but further details on a possible motive and cause of death were withheld as police await a coroner's report on how the priest was killed.
