AUSTIN, Texas – A biology book that some Texas State Board of Education members alleged had factual errors relating to the teaching of evolution has been approved after an expert panel found no mistakes.
Texas Education Agency spokeswoman Debbie Ratcliffe said Wednesday that the panel of three university professors found that no changes needed to be made, so the book by Pearson Education is approved. It will be among the science textbooks schools can purchase in the fall.
The board in November voted to have three of its members pick the trio of outside experts to scrutinize the book after some members made the error allegations.
