Former accountant for Princeton's famed Triangle Club troupe charged with embezzling $100K

An accountant for a famous Princeton University musical-comedy group has been charged with embezzling more than $100,000 from the club since 2010.

The New Jersey attorney general's office announced charges Monday against 55-year-old Thomas John Muza. He surrendered to detectives last week and was released. His lawyer, Robin Lord, did not immediately return a call on Monday.

Muza was fired last month from his $4,000-per-year job as accountant for the Triangle Club, whose alumni include F. Scott Fitzgerald. Muza also was suspended from his main job as general manager of McCarter Theatre, a company also based on Princeton's campus.

Authorities say he has taken $100,000 from the comedy group since 2010 but started stealing from the organization earlier. Muza began as its accountant 20 years ago.
