NEW YORK – New York City police are investigating a late-night shooting at a popular midtown Manhattan ice rink that wounded two people.
Police say they are interviewing witnesses, but no one has been taken into custody in connection with the shooting Saturday night at the rink at Bryant Park.
Witnesses say they heard shots ring out at about 11 p.m., causing the crowd to scatter. Police says it's unclear where the shooter was firing from, whether from on the ice or outside the rink.
Joe Carella is a spokesman for Bryant Park Corporation, the not-for-profit company that privately manages the park. He says there were about 300 people on the ice at the time of the shooting, which caused non-life-threatening injuries.
The rink opened as normal on Sunday morning.
