An administrator at a Christian university in Eugene, Ore., says a student who recently revealed that he's an atheist in an article is more than welcome as a campus leader.

Northwest Christian University Vice President Michael Fuller tells the Register-Guard (http://bit.ly/1gwzYyd ) he's long known of Eric Fromm's lack of belief and wishes he were "a strong Christian man."

But Fuller praised Fromm's character and advocacy for students, and he says the school is an open, welcoming community.

Fromm was baptized as a Lutheran and attended a Methodist church until his parents divorced when he was a teenager. He says he enrolled at the school, despite religious doubts, for its communication program and individual attention from professors.
