It wasn’t Santa Claus coming down the chimney of a southwest Florida home.

Naples police say it was 25-year-old Richard Tyler Brandon, who was attempting to break into an unoccupied home early Wednesday after he and a friend ran out of cash while they were drinking at Pelican Larry’s bar.

The Naples Daily News reports Brandon’s friend contacted police, who called the fire department. It took nearly two hours to get Brandon out of the chimney.

Homeowner Mike Whitley called the incident a “reverse kind of Santa.”

Brandon faces two counts of burglary. He told the newspaper he didn’t want to comment, but friend Derke Grenfell says he warned Brandon not to go down the chimney.

Grenfell says Brandon yelled for help when he got stuck halfway down.
