Residents of Danvers have honored a popular teacher who prosecutors say was killed by a 14-year-old student.

Colleen Ritzer's body was found behind Danvers High School, where she taught. Prosecutors say Philip Chism killed the 24-year-old Ritzer, but they haven't said how or given a motive.

On Wednesday evening, students held a candlelight vigil to remember Ritzer. They say she clearly loved her job and wanted them to succeed.

Chism moved into town just before the school year and was described by classmates as pleasant, but quiet.

He's being held without bail after being arraigned on a murder charge. Prosecutors said in court documents that the arrest was made based on statements by Chism and corroborating evidence at multiple scenes.
