Jury selection begins Tuesday in the case of a Utah doctor accused of giving his wife a fatal cocktail of drugs in 2007 so he could continue an affair.

Martin MacNeill was charged with murder and obstruction of justice in August 2012, nearly five years after his wife's body was found in a bathtub at the couple's home in Pleasant Grove, about 35 miles south of Salt Lake City.

Prosecutors say 57-year-old MacNeill gave his wife a deadly combination of drugs while she was home recovering from plastic surgery.

They say MacNeill hounded his wife, Michele MacNeill, to get a face-lift, and he got the plastic surgeon to prescribe a potent mix of pills for her recovery.

Medical examiners have ruled the cause of death "undetermined" after first calling it natural.

The trial is expected to last six weeks.
