WOBURN, Mass. – Massachusetts prosecutors say they plan to continue pursuing murder and other state charges against the surviving Boston Marathon bombing suspect.
The Middlesex district attorney's office is heading to court Monday to seek a default warrant against Dzhokhar Tsarnaev (joh-HAHR' tsahr-NEYE'-ehv).
Tsarnaev is in the custody of federal authorities on charges connected to the April 15 bombings and is not expected to appear in court.
Tsarnaev was indicted in June on state charges including murder for the death of Massachusetts Institute of Technology police officer Sean Collier on April 18.
But the state cannot proceed with an arraignment until the defendant is physically present in court.
Tsarnaev's federal public defender did not immediately return a call before business hours Monday. He has pleaded not guilty to the federal charges.
