Defense attorneys for an Arizona convict accused of killing an Oklahoma couple while on the run in 2010 have rested their case.

John McCluskey's attorneys told the court Wednesday they would not be calling any witnesses. The announcement came just moments after prosecutors wrapped up their case with the testimony of an FBI special agent.

Prosecutors had presented a parade of witnesses over four weeks. They included forensic experts and law enforcement agents as well as McCluskey's cousin and girlfriend, Casslyn Welch, and his former prison bunkmate, Tracy Province.

Prosecutors also presented dozens of pieces of evidence, from crime scene photos to audio recordings.

McCluskey is facing federal carjacking and murder charges in the Aug. 2, 2010 deaths of Gary and Linda Haas of Tecumseh, Okla. If convicted, he faces either life in prison or the death penalty.
