Police say a crime watch volunteer suspected in a series of sexual assaults apologized for attacking two of the women but said the others were prostitution deals gone bad for which he had no remorse.

The Dallas Morning News (http://dallasne.ws/18VdMEJ ) reports that Van Dralan Dixson made his confession after his Sept. 10 arrest in Louisiana. The 38-year-old has been charged with five counts of aggravated sexual assault and is suspected in four other attacks.

He is being held in Dallas County Jail Tuesday on more than $5 million bond.

Police records show that Dixson told detectives that the rape of one woman as she walked home from work and another as she walked with her kids "affect" him.

A call to Dixson's attorney was not immediately returned Tuesday.
