Police say a Philadelphia cabdriver has been stabbed 11 times by a pair of riders who stole $205 from him.

A police spokeswoman says the 37-year-old driver pulled his taxi over to let two men out shortly before 1:30 a.m. Monday south of the city's center.

He says one man stood next to the driver's window and appeared to be getting money out of his wallet but then both of them stabbed the driver and grabbed his money.

The cabbie flagged down police and was taken to a hospital, where he was treated for wounds to his head, arm, chest, hand and neck.

The police spokeswoman says the wounds are superficial and the victim is in stable condition.

Police say one man has been arrested and another is being sought.
