The Navy has disciplined five sailors for their roles in the training accident deaths of two Navy divers.

Navy Diver 1st Class James Reyher of Caldwell, Ohio, and Navy Diver 2nd Class Ryan Harris of Gladstone, Mo., drowned Feb. 26 while working at the Aberdeen Proving Ground.

Explosive Ordnance Disposal Group 2 spokesman Lt. Nathan Potter says the Navy isn't releasing the names of those disciplined because it's an administrative matter.

The five received nonjudicial punishments. Those are administrative actions that can include reprimands or restrictions. Potter wouldn't comment on the details.

Each sailor may challenge the punishment in a court-martial.

A June hearing was held to determine whether to press formal criminal charges against two sailors for dereliction of duty and involuntary manslaughter. The punishments stem from that investigation.
