A lawyer says the Boston Marathon bombing suspects befriended a brain-damaged anti-U.S. government conspiracy theorist through their mother's job years before the attack.
Attorney Jason Rosenberg says he represents the family of a man who shared publications with Tamerlan (TAM'-ehr-luhn) and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev (joh-HAHR' tsahr-NY'-ehv) and discussed with them theories including that Sept. 11 didn't happen or the government was behind it.
Rosenberg on Tuesday identified the man as Donald Larking. He says Larking was shot in the head in 1974 in an attempted robbery.
The attorney says Larking's wife is a quadriplegic and the Tsarnaev brothers sometimes substituted for their mother by working as the patient's personal care assistant.
The brothers are ethnic Chechens from Russia. Tamerlan died following a shootout with police days after the deadly April 15 marathon bombing. Dzhokhar has pleaded not guilty.
