ObamaCare Update on the Hill; Beef Recall; Awaiting MLB on Suspensions

President Obama expected to sign legislation passed by the House yesterday to lower interest rates on student loans.

The President is meeting with a bipartisan group from Congress later today.

We'll get an update on the implementation of the Affordable Care Act today as the House Ways & Means Committee and the House Energy & Commerce Committee hold hearings beginning at 10am. There's also a news conference by Republican Congressmen at 11:30.

Cleveland kidnapper Ariel Castro faces sentencing is today. He faces up to life in prison plus 1,000 years after pleading guilty to kidnapping and holding three women hostage for nearly 10 years.

The sentencing phase of Bradley Manning continues today with a focus on the damage he did by releasing more than a quarter million diplomatic cables.

Gay marriage legal in another two states and DC as of Midnight last night. It's now legal for same-sex couples to marry in Minnesota and Rhode Island, and in the nation's capital... bringing the total states where it's legal to 13.

Randy Travis has been released from the hospital after being treated for a viral infection in his heart and a stroke. He'll now be staying in a physical therapy facility.

There's been a recall of beef by officials in Kansas.. 50,000 lbs of beef apparently contaminated by E Coli. Blech.

Nearly 400 have been sickened by that salad-linked outbreak of cyclospora.. a parasite - a story "Happening Now" has been following for weeks. The origins of the bug is unknown, but it's been traced to prepackaged salads.

The U.S. and Pakistan will resume high-level talks over mutual security. Talks were cancelled after U.S. airstrikes in 2011.

U.S.A. Today is reporting a deal is close to allow U.S. troops to remain in Afghanistan after 2014, and the end of the official U.S. presence. A similar deal was not hammered out in Iraq resulting in the U.S. pulling out even a residual force.
