A swarm of bees is keeping a US Airways Express flight at the gate at Charlotte Douglas International Airport.

US Airways spokesman Davien Anderson said Flight 2690 to Indianapolis had boarded Wednesday afternoon and was ready for departure. Anderson said when the gate agent approached the tug, which pushes the airplane back from the gate, the agent noticed the bees.

The CRJ900 jet was scheduled to depart at 1:15 p.m.

Anderson said a beekeeper was summoned to the tug to remove the bees. The passengers remained on the aircraft.
