On anniversary of massacre at movie theater, Colorado looks for healing

Several dozen people commemorating last year's deadly movie theater shooting in Colorado held a moment of silence for those killed and wounded in the July 20, 2012, massacre.

The 82 seconds of silence began at 12:38 a.m. MDT on Saturday — the same time the shooting began a year ago during a packed midnight screening of the Batman film "The Dark Knight Rises." The length of time represented the 12 people killed and the 70 who were wounded in the Aurora theater.

The moment of silence was held in a state park in the same city. It was preceded by the reading of the names of the more than 2,500 people who have been died in gun-related violence in the U.S. since the Newtown, Conn., massacre in December.

That effort began just after noon on Friday and was timed to finish at 12:38 a.m.
